Does Twitter Make Sense Anymore?

I like to think that I signed up for Twitter for the right reasons.  I pictured massive web links, interactions and full-on information overload which are all made to fill my distraction needs.
Technically, I may be correct about that; but why do I feel more and more alone while I linger on my Twitter feed.  The only real connection I get is when a few friends fancy chatting via volleyed tweets.

I could be doing this Twitter thing wrong and do please point me somewhere I can set my relationship right with currently, the most forgetful social media site in the internet.

For quite a while now, I've been so annoyed by the noise that I just had to employ a few means to Tweet outside of Twitter.  Hootsuite has been helpful lately.

I want to quit Twitter because I can't stand having access to the whole world's blabber.  My curated List of Twitter Idols could not even make me dislike the site less.

Or maybe, today is just an off day and I could just blame the moon for all this.

Bye.

P.S.  Oh do follow me  and join me in trying to make sense of Twitter.

  1. I personally just use twitter to save (and share) interesting articles I want to read while browsing around the web. The great thing about it for me though is that if you do it right (post the right stuff, follow the right people) you get a pretty influential following behind your back with connections that range from international media companies to sough-out motivational speakers. You never know with Twitter.

  2. I didn't enjoy Twitter as much before but I happen to actually enjoy it more today. I think it helped that I followed certain accounts that cater to my interests and are not full of senseless blabber. It's actually enjoyable to have people tweet out intellectual thoughts in 140 characters or less. :)

  3. Currently I'm just using Twitter to sync my Facebook page and Instagram posts. I also use it to promote my newest blog posts. Back then it was my stalking platform (hahaha) when I used to have this girl crush in college! I'm not sure now if I'm using it the right way na pud! HAHA

  4. I stopped synching twitter to my Facebook but I am quite active there when there are important events or even issues to talk about. ;) It maybe my least favorite among popular social media sites but it is one of the places that I can "pick a fight" or "kiss ass" some of the most popular people in the country and the world.

  5. I only started being active on Twitter recently; like 2 months ago! I wasn't able to appreciate it the first time I signed up but - like Anne M. - I found it useful once I started following people and orgs that shared my interests. I also don't watch the news and I've been counting on twitter for quick and important updates on current events!

I enjoy Instagram very much and, for me, Twitter is like Instagram's brainy and witty cousin! Haha.

  6. I'm not much into twitter too and still not getting used to it. I also use it to share posts but not on writing random thoughts. But I know it's a useful and powerful platform you can take advantage.

  7. Twitter now is a much noisier place than before, by noise I mean the added corporate noise! I visit it occasionally though for I use it to connect to my friends who have either deleted their facebook or deactivited it. It's also an alternative place to rant when I don't want it to be in facebook though! hahahaha

  8. I think sometimes Twitter tend to be much noisier than it was before. Good or bad, we cant deny the fact that it will really get you connected globally. I was able to use the site to connect with people from different parts of the globe like friends and classmates from yesteryears. And I agree with Iggy, this is where I would rant as an alternative to facebook! wahaha :) Chill girl. you will pull through this. And this too shall pass :)

  10. At first, I didn't understand it. I only joined about 4 years ago because I needed to have an account for Bianca Gonzalez's blog giveaway. It's where she will announce the winners. It proved to be helpful because I won. Haha. I think it's helpful when you follow the right people. I don't always enjoy it but I still want to keep it. You may also want to join Twitter parties or discussions with your orgs or groups you follow. :)

  11. Thank you for your thoughts on the matter! Re-thinking the whole thing, I do see the redeeming qualities of twitter. I just have to learn how to filter and compartmentalize - two things I struggle at by the way. lol
