CebuIsabeauty Joins CBSummit 3.0

Hi there! I miss blogging and I miss my blogger friends too! Which is why I'm stepping out of my comfy conch on December 3, 2016 to take part of Cebu Blogging Summit 3.0!

Last year, I was there too and I was so impressed by the labor of love that came from the core leads of Cebu Blogging Community to put together something this big.

Cebu Blogging Summit is an annual gathering of bloggers and soon-to-be bloggers in Cebu City to learn anything from the something as basic as how to start a blog to how to live a digital nomad lifestyle.  Professional bloggers also share their best practices in their chosen niche. My favorite part happens when I get to see the endless possibilities of the internet of things and people.

Every year the Cebu Blogging Summit  organizers choose speakers that take so much pride in what they do. Men and women who are often trailblazers in the industry. They dont just have a fanbase in readers but are admired my us bloggers too. Take a peek at the who's who this time!

Although I have momentarily placed blogging in the far end of my to-do lists, I'm still joining #CBSummit because inspite of adulting so much this year, I have always identified myself as a blogger- someone who has a glaring digital footprint.

Filipino Pride: Albert Andrada Exhibit at SM Seaside City Cebu

Albert Andrada dress for Miss Universe 2015

It's an Independence Day weekend for us in a few winks and it's also the perfect time to see one of the beauties that made the Philippines a standout for the whole world or universe even.

Albert Andrada opening exhibit at sm seaside

The iconic mermaid dress designed by Albert Andrada and worn by Pia Wurtzbach during the Miss Universe 2015 pageant is just an arms length away from anyone who wishes to see it because it's right here in Cebu City.

The dress that is literally a labor of love, sweat, and tears has come to Cebuano shores.  SM Seaside City Cebu is showcasing three dresses that renowned fashion designer, Albert Andrada deem as the most important creations of his career. He was gracious enough to  share to us bloggers the story behind choosing the dress. Pia's fierceness and elegance was magnified because of it and the rest is now part of our glory.

Standing next to the dresses Pia Wurtzbach wore was quite a feeling only pride and joy can possibly elicit.

Cebuanos can see Albert Andrada's creations at the Sea View Atrium of SM Seaside City Cebu until June 12, 2016.

Happy 118th Independence Day!

Gabii sa Kabilin 2016

FORGING PEOPLES

It's almost set in stone.  Every last Friday of May is always Gabii sa Kabilin.  A night of connecting with our Cebuano roots through the memorabilia and historical significance of old yet familiar places in the Queen City of the South.

This year's theme, Gabii sa Kabilin: FORGING PEOPLES dwells on the various cultures and races that had contributed to what Cebu is today.  To quote a story from the theme:

“The mixture of the different influences and culture gave birth to new complex society filled with different characteristics from each country (Spaniards, Americans, Chinese, Japanese, etcetera) that have made an impact on the Cebuano people. This new multicultural society not only changed perspectives but also helped in the transformation of Cebu from just a trading harbor in the Southeast to an advanced society, which Cebuanos could now take pride in. But even if Cebu’s native culture was overshadowed by the different influences that have come and stamped itself in, traces of the original native culture could still be seen through various traditions that are still visible and present up to today,”

During the Gabii sa Kabilin, participants will be treated to cultural performances, culinary experience, art fairs, and special exhibits, among others, during this one extraordinary night.  Select participating sites also offer children activities. Added activities this year are scavenger hunt, storytelling of myths and legends and learning crafts and music are in store for the kids too!

This is going to be my second time in joining this event and I look forward to seeing Cebu in a different light.  There is so much to know and explore.  This is a yearly adventure and a must for a Cebuana like me!
